Radio UNAM

Radio UNAM is the radio station of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). It broadcasts from Mexico City on 860 AM and 96.1 FM, serving the city and surrounding municipalities, as well as online through its website, www.radiounam.unam.mx, with 24-hour programming, 365 days a year.

Its mission is to disseminate culture and thought in all its manifestations, in accordance with legal mandates and university values such as critical thinking, reflection, opinion, intelligent analysis, and the free expression of ideas. It also aims to disseminate scientific knowledge, explore new radio formats, and preserve the radio’s sound archive for the benefit of the university community and society at large.

The musical programming is diverse and distinct on its two frequencies:

96.1 FM Contemporary classical music, world music, jazz and fusion music, and high-quality contemporary popular music from various genres, prioritizing independent recordings and featuring only a small portion of mainstream or pop music.

860 AM Classical music, opera, classic jazz, and, to a lesser extent, special selections of fine, catalog, and high-quality popular music.

Radio UNAM, in engaging its audience, seeks to be inclusive, appealing to a population interested in culture and thought.
