64th International Rostrum of Composers: Dates Announced!

We are pleased to announce that the 64th International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) will be held from 16 to 20 May 2017 in Palermo, Italy, hosted by the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini.

The International Rostrum of Composers is a unique platform to share and promote contemporary music. During the last five editions only, more than 35 national radios have participated and exchanged their contemporary music productions. Some 250 recent works have been presented and the selected and recommended works have been broadcast by participating radios more than 3000 times! The IRC is also an invaluable occasion for professional development and exchange with colleagues from all over the world. In recent years, Rostrum delegates have enjoyed workshops on DAB, special interviews with local composers, the world premiere of Arvo Pärt’s Adam’s Passion and the diverse programme of the European Forum on Music, just to give you few examples.
Moreover, since 2015, the IRC is organized in the framework of the EU-funded Rostrum+ project which has given a new impetus to its traditional format with online streaming, a dedicated web platform, composer-in-residency programmes for the winners, public events and much more.

The 64th edition will be held in the framework of the celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the Conservatory Vincenzo Bellini, one of the oldest of the world, and will feature many debates, capacity building workshops as well as concerts and cultural activities. With our friends and colleagues from Palermo we are working hard to design a programme of high quality and also leave time for you to discover the local culture.

Thanks to the EU grant, we will again be able to offer you travel and accommodation packages at a discounted price as well as travel grants.

Therefore, please mark the dates in your agenda without delay and do not hesitate to get in touch with us for further information!

We very much hope that your radio will (once again) participate in this year’s Rostrum.
