Dear representatives of broadcasting organizations,
The last 12 months have seen an unprecedented crisis which has affected all human activities on a global scale, notably the entire music ecosystem which is now trying to recover and leave the crisis behind. Like many other in-person gatherings, the 2020 edition of the International Rostrum of Composers was cancelled.
Although the situation remains critical in many countries, some signs of hope have let IMC and its partners consider the possibility of organizing a 2021 edition.
Therefore, we are pleased to inform you that the 67th International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) will be held October 12 – 15, 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia.
For the first time in its history, the IRC will travel to Serbia thanks to the invitation of the RTS Radio Television of Serbia – Radio Belgrade 3.
In order to set a convivial ambiance for listening sessions, a welcome reception will be organized in the evening of the 11th of October.
As is IRC tradition, the 67th edition will also give the delegates the opportunity to have an insight into Serbia’s vibrant cultural scene through a rich (and Covid-free) side programme organized by our hosts.
For almost seven decades, the IRC has been the most important platform for exchanging contemporary music through radio broadcasting. It is also a major opportunity for professional development and exchange between radio producers and presenters.
More than 35 national radios from all over the world have participated and exchanged their contemporary music productions and – just to give you an idea – for the last two editions only, some 100 recent works have been presented and then broadcast by participating radios more than 2000 times! Moreover, the Hidden Treasures Mixtape, organized for the first time in 2020, has seen some 20 national radios giving a unique exposure to female composers from all around the globe.
