RTÉ lyric fm is Ireland’s national classical music and arts station. It broadcasts a wide range of music from classical, opera, jazz, world and roots, traditional and contemporary, through to music from the movies, chamber music, sacred and more, as well as crafted speech programming, features, and documentaries, which assist the listener in their understanding of the music we play and the arts in Ireland and abroad.
Although you will find new music throughout the RTÉ Lyric fm schedule, each Sunday evening from 8pm to 10 pm RTÉ Lyric fm’s Nova programme devotes itself entirely to new music. The programme’s tagline is “Nova is about new music chronicling what’s radical and what’s conservative, who’s established and who’s in the avant garde. A blend of contemporary classical, electronic, experimental”. Throughout the year the Nova broadcasts a range of contemporary music including world and Irish premiers, live concerts, interviews with musicians and composers and of course pieces drawn from the International Rostrum of Composers. Nova is presented by Bernard Clarke who is a veteran of many Rostra and produced by Eoin O Kelly with production coordinator Michael O’Kane.
