72nd International Rostrum of Composers – Registration is Open!

Your organization is hereby invited to take part in the 72nd session of the International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) which will be held in Riga, Latvia, on 12 – 15 May 2026.

We are very pleased to announce that this flagship programme of the International Music Council will be held for the first time in Latvia, thanks to the invitation of our longstanding partner Latvian Public Service Media.

Since the foundation of the IRC in 1955, more than 400 composers have been promoted and their works broadcast thousands of times within the network of participating radios. After 71 editions, the IRC continues today to be the most important platform for the promotion of contemporary music via radio broadcast with some 700 broadcasts of the selected and recommended works in the last season only.   Moreover, the IRC is an invaluable occasion to meet and network with colleagues from all over the world and exchange about contemporary music and radio broadcast.

The 2026 edition of the Rostrum will be enriched by its connection with the 100th season closing concert of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, as well as interviews with the composers and special presentations on the Latvian music ecosystem.   Selected and recommended works will benefit from the unique exposure offered by the broadcasts through the network of participating radios and therefore reach millions of listeners worldwide.

Selected composers in both categories will receive the IRC Prize in the form of a bursary supported by our longstanding partners RTP–Radio Television Portugal Antena 2 and the EBU–European Broadcasting Organization. Additional opportunities such as artistic residencies, commissions or live performances of the selected works will be announced in the weeks to come.

All relevant documents for the registration can be found here.

We draw your attention to the deadline to submit the registration: April 12th, 18:00 (CEST)   We look forward to welcoming your delegate at the 2026 Rostrum, and we do count on your contribution to the success of our joint endeavor.
