The 68th session of the International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) will be held in Palermo, Italy, 31 May – 3 June 2022.
We are very pleased to announce that this flagship program of the International Music Council will be held for the second time in Italy, thanks to the invitation of our longstanding partner, the Conservatorio Alessandro Scarlatti.
Since the foundation of the IRC in 1955, some 400 composers have been promoted and their works broadcast thousands of times within the network of participating radios. After 66 editions, the IRC continues today to be the most important platform for the promotion of contemporary music via radio broadcast with some 800 broadcasts of the selected and recommended works in the last season only. Moreover, the IRC is an invaluable occasion to meet colleagues from all over the world and exchange about contemporary music.
Selected and recommended works will benefit from the unique exposure offered by the broadcasts through the network of participating radios. In addition, selected composers in the two categories will be offered an additional opportunity. Supported by RTP – Radio television Portugal Antena 2, the newly created IRC Prize will go to the selected composer in the General Category while for the Under-30 category, thanks to our partnership with the Norrbottensmusiken, the selected composer will benefit from a commission along with a short-residence program (with recording and live broadcast) with the Ensemble Norrbotten NEO from Sweden.
All relevant documents for participation can be found here (a .zip file will donwload).
We draw your attention to the deadline to submit the registration: May 6th, 12:00 (CEST)
We look forward to welcoming your delegate at the 2022 Rostrum, and we do count on your contribution to the success of our joint endeavor.
