We are excited to announce that the registrations for the 70th session of the International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) are now open!
The IRC will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 14 – 17 May 2024 thanks to the invitation of our longstanding partner LRT Klasika along with the Lithuanian Composers’ Union.
Since the foundation of the IRC in 1955, some 400 composers have been promoted and their works broadcast thousands of times within the network of participating radios. After 69 editions, the IRC continues today to be the most important platform for the promotion of contemporary music via radio broadcast with some 700 broadcasts of the selected and recommended works in the last season only. Moreover, the IRC is an invaluable occasion to meet colleagues from all over the world and exchange about contemporary music.
Selected and recommended works will benefit from the unique exposure offered by the broadcasts through the network of participating radios. In addition, selected composers in both categories will be awarded two special prizes.
In the General category, thanks to a new partnership between IMC and Norrlandsoperan (Umeå – Sweden), the selected composer will benefit from an IRC co-commission for the Norrlandoperan Symphony Orchestra. In the Under-30 category, the selected composer will receive the IRC Prize in the form of a bursary worth 4000€ and supported by RTP–Radio Television Portugal Antena 2.
Moreover, IMC is excited to announce a new partnership with the prestigious Vienna-based publishing firm Universal Edition, thanks to which the selected composers will be offered free of charge access for one year to the UE SCODO publishing service while all recommended composers will be entitled to a free one-time evaluation for inclusion in the service and a special IMC rate if they decide to subscribe.
