With this action, Rostrum+ gives an international boost to the careers of 6 composers from across the world, contributes to artistic innovation, gives composers free reign to create with the assurance that their works will live, brings new works to audiences through broadcast and enables artists to collaborate.
The selected composer at each of the Listening Sessions will receive a joint commission Radio France / IMC for an Alla Breve composition. that will be performed by musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, then recorded and broadcast by Radio France in four parts over the week, ending with the full performance on the last day.
Swedish Radio and IMC will jointly commission a work to the composer selected at each Listening Session in the “Under 30” category. The composer will be invited to Sweden for an introductory 2-day workshop with the ensemble NEO, one of the finest and most distinctive voice on the Swedish music scene today, in order to explore their musical possibilities, talk with the musicians and get inspired by them.
The composer will then have almost a year to write a piece for them and will return in Sweden for the last week of rehearsal and the live premiere of his work. The concert will feature Rostrum’s works and will have a live EBU broadcast.
